What is ShipHazmat?
ShipHazmat is the world's leading web-based application for generating compliant shipper's declarations and packaging of dangerous goods for air transport. Using a regulatory engine that assists users with auto-population of required regulatory information and dynamically adjusts prompts and user interface (UI) screens, ShipHazmat is not just another templating framework.
How does it work?
ShipHazmat's built-in regulatory engine dynamically generates and validates user input to assist shippers and freight forwarders with dangerous goods air cargo by automatically filling in key fields of required regulatory information. Based on the most current regulations for shipping dangerous goods by aircraft, ShipHazmat reduces typographical errors, saves businesses the cost of time and manpower, and standardizes the interpretation of regulatory information between shipments and users.
What hazmat/dangerous goods regulations does ShipHazmat use?
The regulatory engine built into ShipHazmat is based on current ICAO/IATA regulations used for transporting dangerous goods internationally by aircraft. ShipHazmat also incorporates the logic of United States government variations (USG) found within Section 2 of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) for U.S. shipping purposes, as well as applicable 49 CFR regulations for U.S. shipping purposes to, from, through the United States or onboard U.S. registered aircraft.
Do I need red-bordered paper for my dangerous goods declarations?
ShipHazmat can print dangerous goods declarations with or without the required red borders (8.1.1.2 in the IATA DGR). Users can either print the completed declaration on white paper with pre-printed red borders, or ShipHazmat can print red borders along with the declaration on white paper using a color ink-jet or laser printer.
Does ShipHazmat calculate Q-value?
Of course! ShipHazmat correctly calculates and applies the Q value to multiple dangerous goods packed in one outer packaging as required in 5.0.2.11 of the IATA DGR.
Can I reprint a completed shipper's declaration?
Yes. Annual membership users can reprint completed declarations as often as desired or required. Per-click users can reprint completed declarations up to 48 hours after the declaration has been marked as completed.
Do I have to download or install anything?
The online version of ShipHazmat requires no downloads or installations. Simply create an account, log in and begin generating compliant declarations of dangerous goods from any computer around the world connected to the Internet.
Can I electronically transmit my shipment to an operator or carrier?
Yes. ShipHazmat has built-in modules for electronically transmitting shipment data between shippers and participating operators/carriers. Please speak with your preferred operator or carrier to see if they are participating in our EDP/EDI program.
Do you provide technical support?
Yes. Every ShipHazmat purchase includes free, limited technical support. Our friendly support specialists will work with you to resolve most technical issues that you experience with the application and confirm its accuracy with our in-house regulatory department. Some issues may require assistance from the user's technical department. Our support specialists do not train or teach users how to complete the declaration from a regulatory perspective, package dangerous goods or classify dangerous goods. Users must be properly trained in respective regulations. ShipHazmat is not a substitute for properly trained hazmat employees.
What happens when IATA publishes an addendum or PHMSA publishes a final rule that affects air transport?
Our regulatory department receives addendums and final rules immediately after they are published. The updated regulations are interpretted and then absorbed into ShipHazmat's regulatory engine seamlessly. Users simply log in and are using the latest and greatest each time.
Can ShipHazmat help me satisfy record retention requirements?
Yes. Each completed shipment is saved into ShipHazmat's secure shipment database. Annual membership users can retrieve and reprint completed declarations up to three (3) years after they are created. Per-click users have up to 48 hours after marking a shipment as completed to reprint additional copies of the declaration.
Can I try ShipHazmat before I commit to a purchase?
Yes. You can try a free demo by clicking here. Or you can try an extended demo by calling our office at 609-860-0300 and speaking with a friendly representative.
Do my shipping credits expire?
No. Purchased shipping credits for a per-click account have no expiration date and can be used whenever a hazmat or dangerous goods declaration is required during your normal course of business.
